Location: North Somerset
Salary: £93 – £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils within mainstream primary schools across North Somerset, including areas such as Weston-super-Mare, Portishead, Clevedon, Nailsea, Backwell, Yatton and the surrounding areas, from September 2026.

We are looking for individuals interested in a mixture of flexible day-to-day supply work, short-term placements, and long-term opportunities, supporting children with a range of additional learning needs within inclusive classroom environments.

You will work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual targets.

This is a highly rewarding role where you can make a meaningful difference in children's educational journeys while gaining valuable experience within local primary schools.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups throughout the school day
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and learning needs
Encourage independence and promote positive learning behaviours
Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning needs and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets where applicable
Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENCO
Assist with personal care where required, following appropriate training and school guidance
Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For

Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential
Experience in schools, childcare, youth work, care, or support work is advantageous
A patient, caring, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and individual pupil needs
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
