SEN TA – SEMH & Challenging Behaviour
Location: Havering
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Long Term
Hours: 08:30–15:15
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are looking for a SEN TA to join a supportive primary school in Havering, working closely with a child who requires additional support with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and challenging behaviour.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN TA who is confident supporting children who may display challenging behaviour and understands the importance of building trust, consistency and positive relationships.
The successful SEN TA will provide dedicated support to help the child manage their emotions, engage with learning and develop positive behaviours. The school is looking for a SEN TA who can remain calm and patient, even when situations become challenging.
The Role
As a SEN TA, you will:
Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
Support the child with emotional regulation and managing their behaviour.
Encourage positive engagement with learning and classroom activities.
Build a strong, trusting relationship with the child.
Use a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.
Support the child to develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
About You
The school is looking for a SEN TA who:
Has previous experience working with children with SEN, SEMH or challenging behaviour.
Is confident managing challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Is patient, resilient and consistent in their approach.
Understands the importance of positive relationships and clear boundaries.
Can adapt their approach depending on the child's individual needs.
Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Works well alongside teachers and other school staff.
Is reliable and available for an immediate start.
