Job Description

TimePlan Education is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive specialist school in Welwyn Garden City. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, supporting students across all age groups with a range of additional and complex needs.

The school provides tailored education and support for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and other learning difficulties. The setting focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every pupil can thrive and achieve.

Role Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a variety of SEN

Adapt teaching strategies and materials to meet individual needs and EHCP targets

Assist teachers in planning and delivering personalised learning

Support pupils with emotional regulation, social development, and sensory needs

Help manage behaviour positively and proactively

Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals

Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or care setting

Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible under pressure

Understanding of Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs

A valid enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one

Desirable:

Experience with non-verbal communication methods or sensory integration strategies

Physical care experience (desirable but not essential)

Team Teach or de-escalation training (training can be provided)
