Description:

This role is based within a specialist SEND setting supporting pupils with a wide range of complex learning needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), physical disabilities, and communication needs. You will support pupils following semi-formal and informal learning pathways, helping them access a highly personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely alongside the class teacher and wider support team to provide high-quality assistance throughout the school day. You will build positive relationships with pupils, encourage engagement in learning activities, promote communication and independence, and assist with personal care where required. The role also involves supporting pupils who may display behaviours that challenge, using calm, proactive behaviour management strategies and helping them regulate their emotions in line with their individual support plans.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils within mixed pathway curriculum 2 and 3; with complex SEND, including PMLD, ASD and SLD.

* Support pupils in accessing a semi-formal and informal curriculum through engaging, sensory-based learning activities.

* Build positive relationships with pupils while promoting communication, engagement and independence.

* Support pupils with personal care, mobility and feeding where required.

* Help implement individual learning and behaviour support plans.

* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

* Use professional judgement to de-escalate challenging behaviour and support emotional regulation.

* Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive outcomes for all pupils.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, compassionate, proactive and passionate about supporting children with complex additional needs, while working as part of a collaborative and supportive specialist education team
