SEN Learning Support Assistant – Watford

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Salary: £87–£105 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026 (or ASAP)

About the Role

Supply Desk is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive specialist school in Watford. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and reach their full potential.

Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will provide both classroom and one-to-one support for pupils with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Down syndrome, speech and language needs, severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and other complex needs. The role may include supporting pupils with personal care and mobility where required.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one and small group basis.
Assist pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASC, ADHD, Down syndrome, speech and language needs, SLD, PMLD, and other complex needs.
Help implement individual learning plans and support pupils in achieving their EHCP targets.
Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence throughout the school day.
Support positive behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing.
Assist with personal care, toileting, hygiene, and mobility support where required.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and other professionals to provide the best outcomes for pupils.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable but not essential.
A caring, patient, and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Confidence in supporting pupils with a range of complex learning and communication needs.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A willingness to provide personal care and mobility assistance where required.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
