Vision for Education is seeking dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils within a specialist autism provision and a range of ALN settings across Newport and the surrounding areas.
Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, a graduate looking to start a career in education, or someone with transferable skills from care, youth work, support services, residential childcare, or health and social care, this is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist SEN experience while making a genuine impact on pupils' educational journeys.
The Role of an SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated learning needs within a highly specialised educational environment.
The setting is designed around structured routines, predictable learning environments, and personalised support strategies that enable pupils to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will help pupils develop communication skills, emotional regulation, independence, social interaction, and confidence.
Many pupils benefit from specialist communication approaches, sensory support strategies, and highly individualised learning programmes. You will play a key role in creating a calm, nurturing, and inclusive environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and able to achieve their full potential.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to develop specialist experience in autism education, SEN support, behaviour support, and therapeutic approaches to learning.
