SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Smallfield, Surrey

Salary: £14.30 - £15.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.45pm. Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm

Start date: June 2026

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school supporting students aged 11–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), offering a nurturing and inclusive environment where young people can access the national curriculum in a way that suits their individual needs and work towards meaningful vocational qualifications for life beyond school.

Key Duties:

Build positive, caring and supportive relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe, valued and able to engage fully in their learning.

Encourage independence and support pupils’ personal development.

Assist the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom.

Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the school, adapting to different tasks as required to ensure smooth daily operations. (Occasional physical intervention may be required; full training will be provided.)

Support pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical and spiritual development.

Skills and Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent.

Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (desirable but not essential)

Experience of working in a special school environment is highly desirable.

Team TEACH Training- desirable
