Special Needs School Teaching Assistant – Radlett

Location: Radlett area
Start-date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time
Pay: £85-£115pd (Dependent on experience)

Supply Desk are currently seeking a caring, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive special needs school in the Radlett area. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and creating a positive, nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and disabilities
• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support based on individual pupil needs
• Assist pupils with accessing the curriculum and engaging in learning activities
• Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural development
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
• Assist pupils with developing essential life skills and confidence
• Monitor and report on pupil progress, development and wellbeing
• Follow individual support plans and adapt strategies to meet pupils' specific needs
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals
• Encourage pupils to participate in school activities and develop their independence
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Role Requirements:

• Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (preferred)
• Understanding of a range of SEN needs and effective support strategies
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A patient, caring and nurturing approach
• Positive behaviour management skills
• Passion for education and supporting young people with additional needs
• Knowledge of safeguarding
• Experience working within a special needs, primary or secondary school setting (desirable)
