SEN Teaching Assistant – SEN School (Autism & Complex Needs) 
Location: Norwich, Norfolk
Pay Rate: £(Apply online only) per week 
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only

A specialist SEN school in Norwich is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.
The school supports children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs, including communication differences, sensory processing needs, emotional regulation challenges, and anxiety. Pupils benefit from a highly personalised, structured, and therapeutic approach to learning, particularly those who have found mainstream education challenging.
About the Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils across the school day, supporting both learning and wellbeing. The school offers a broad curriculum alongside life skills, physical education, and therapeutic activities.
The school has an on-site swimming pool, and pupils take part in structured swimming lessons as part of their programme. Due to this, the school is particularly keen to hear from candidates who hold a valid lifeguard qualification, as you may be required to support and supervise pupils during swimming sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Autism and complex needs
Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and sensory needs
Assist with behaviour support strategies and engagement in learning
Promote independence and life skills development
Support pupils during physical education and swimming sessions
Act as a lifeguard during swimming lessons where required
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfareEssential / Desirable Requirements
Experience supporting children or young people with Autism and SEN
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Confidence working in a specialist SEN environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
