SEN Teaching Assistant - Basingstoke
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Basingstoke area. This role involves working with children and young people who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support that helps pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop important life skills. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or through small‑group interventions, depending on the needs of individual pupils.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN
Support pupils during lessons, activities, and daily school routines
Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies
Help adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistentlyIdeal Candidate:
Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
Patient, supportive, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Adaptable and responsive to a variety of needs and situations
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, support work, or education welcomedContract Details:

Key Stages: Primary / SecondaryExperience, Training & Safeguarding:
SEN or relevant support experience desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
