SEN Teaching Assistant

Specialist SEMH School - Preston - Up to £600 per week - Full-Time - September Start

Do you have the confidence and resilience to work with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, emotional dysregulation, or difficulties engaging with education?

A specialist SEMH school in Preston is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its experienced support team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with backgrounds in SEN, care, youth work, residential support, sports coaching, mentoring, or behaviour support, as well as graduates considering careers in psychology, social work, mental health, or education.

The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, attachment difficulties, trauma-related needs, and challenging behaviour.

You will work across 1:1 support, small-group interventions, and classroom activities, helping pupils access education while developing their social and emotional skills.

A key part of the role will involve recognising triggers and supporting pupils when they become dysregulated. You will use established behaviour management and de-escalation strategies, maintaining clear boundaries while helping pupils develop healthier ways to communicate and manage their emotions.

Resilient, patient, and emotionally intelligent
