We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Walsall. This is a part‑time position with flexible working options, with the opportunity to increase your days for the right candidate. You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, helping students with a range of additional needs to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe, structured, and engaging setting.

Key Responsibilities

* Support students with a variety of SEN needs in the classroom and during activities

* Assist teachers with planning, adapting, and delivering tailored learning support

* Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence

* Provide 1:1 and small‑group support as required

* Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

What We’re Looking For

* Experience working with children or vulnerable people (SEN experience preferred but not essential)

* A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* Willingness to learn and take direction

* Reliability and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN

* Education or childcare‑related qualifications are desirable but not required—we value the right attitude and commitment.

Walsall, easily accessible by local transport and commutable from surrounding areas.

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.

The role advertised is for temporary supply work.
