Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hillingdon
Salary: £525–£555 per week
Contract: ASAP Start | Full-Time

The Role
You will be working as part of a supportive team within a specialist SEN school, providing tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD).
The successful candidate will be confident supporting pupils both in the classroom and throughout the wider school environment, helping them to engage with learning, develop their independence and manage their individual needs.

Main Duties

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and ASD
Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
Helping pupils develop their communication, social and independence skills
Providing support with emotional regulation and behaviour where required
Following individual EHCP targets, support plans and behaviour strategies
Working closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff
Creating a calm, safe and nurturing environment for pupils
Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtimes and school activities
Encouraging positive relationships and promoting pupils' confidence and independence
Assisting with personal care where requiredAbout You
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:

Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
Have experience supporting pupils with Autism / ASD
Be patient, calm, empathetic and resilient
Have a genuine passion for working within specialist education
Be confident supporting pupils with a range of needs and abilities
Understand the importance of individualised support
Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
Be reliable, committed and enthusiastic
Be willing to learn and develop their understanding of specialist SEN provisionWhy Horizon Teachers
