Permanent SEN Teaching Assistant – First Steps Together
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £22,800 per annum
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15am–4:00pm, term time only
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

The Education Specialists are recruiting on behalf of a specialist education setting in Greater Manchester for a Permanent SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN TA, LSA, Learning Support Assistant or Behaviour Support Worker who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and wants to secure a long-term, permanent position.

The Role You will work closely with teaching staff to provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and make positive progress.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour, Autism, ADHD or other complex needs and be confident building positive relationships with young people who may require additional emotional and behavioural support.

Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
Support pupils with their learning, development and engagement
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
Work alongside teachers and the wider support team
Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning
Follow safeguarding and school policies at all timesWe Are Looking For
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
Experience with SEMH and/or challenging behaviour is highly desirable
A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
