Education First are recruiting an experienced and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Barking & Dagenham, working within its Autism Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP).

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher with strong SEND experience who understands the needs of pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will take full classroom teaching responsibility, supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 through personalised learning, structured teaching and an inclusive approach to education.

The Role

You will take responsibility for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons, supporting pupils with autism and additional needs, managing classroom behaviour and working closely with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO and wider school team.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver lessons tailored to individual learning needs, support pupils with ASC and associated needs, implement EHCP outcomes and individual support plans, promote communication and independence, maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment, monitor pupil progress, manage behaviour consistently and work collaboratively with families and professionals where required.

The Ideal Candidate

You will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification and have proven experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly autism. Experience teaching KS1 and/or KS2 is essential. Previous experience in an Autism ARP, specialist provision or SEN school is highly desirable.

You should demonstrate strong behaviour management, excellent communication skills, patience, resilience and a nurturing approach to supporting pupils with complex learning needs.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and undergo relevant safer recruitment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check with children's barred list check where applicable. Satisfactory references, employment history and qualification checks will be required. Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), safeguarding and child protection is essential.
