The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic Class Teacher to join a highly regarded specialist SEN school in the Edgware area.

The school supports pupils aged 4–11 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism and associated needs. With small class sizes, excellent staff support and a strong multidisciplinary approach, this is an excellent opportunity for a teacher looking to make a real difference in children's lives.

Small class sizes with a strong teaching assistant team.

Excellent staffing ratios, typically one teacher to three TA's.

Comprehensive induction and a named mentor for early-career teachers.

Dedicated CPD budget and access to specialist SEN training.

On-site multidisciplinary support, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists.

Opportunities to lead and develop your own classroom team.

Flexible working arrangements considered wherever possible.

The Role

As Class Teacher, you will take responsibility for planning, delivering and assessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum tailored to pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and managing a team of teaching assistants to ensure high-quality teaching and support.

Monitoring, assessing and recording pupils' progress and development.

Creating a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment.

Implementing effective positive behaviour management strategies.

Working collaboratively with parents, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Supporting pupils' communication, social, emotional and physical development.

Contributing to curriculum development and whole-school improvement.

Supporting pupils to develop independence and prepare for future transitions.

You will be passionate about inclusive education, patient, adaptable and committed to helping children with complex needs reach their full potential.
