SEN Teacher
September 2026 Start | Full-Time | Long-Term

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a school in Brent from September 2026.

The successful SEN teacher will take responsibility for a small KS3/KS4 class of 9 pupils across Years 6-10, all of whom have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Some pupils may also display behaviours that require a calm, consistent and supportive approach.

Within the class, 3 pupils require 1:1 support. The teacher will work alongside 2 classroom support staff, with an additional member of support staff providing dedicated 1:1 support.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about SEND and enjoys delivering highly personalised learning within a well-supported specialist environment.

The Role:

Teaching a class of 9 pupils with ASD across Years 6-10
Planning, preparing and delivering engaging lessons appropriate to individual learning needs
Differentiating and adapting the curriculum to ensure learning is accessible
Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil progress
Working closely with support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support
Supporting pupils who may display behaviours that challenge
Creating a structured, positive and inclusive classroom environment
Supporting pupils' academic, communication, social and emotional development
Working towards individual targets and EHCP outcomes
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils

The Ideal SEN Teacher Will:

Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Have experience working with pupils with ASD and/or other special educational needs
Be confident planning, preparing and assessing learning
Have strong differentiation and curriculum-adaptation skills
Be able to manage behaviour calmly and consistently
Understand the importance of structure and routine for pupils with ASD
Be patient, resilient and adaptable
Be confident directing and working collaboratively with classroom support staff
Be passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with SEND

Previous experience within a specialist SEN school would be highly desirable; however, teachers with relevant mainstream SEND experience who are looking to move into a specialist setting are also encouraged to apply.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established specialist school and work with a small class where you can provide personalised teaching and make a meaningful impact on pupils' progress and development.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and relevant pre-employment checks.

Apply today to be considered for this SEN Teacher opportunity for September 2026.
