Job Title: SEN Primary Teacher (SEN Specialist)
Location: Birmingham, B11
Pay: £140 – £220 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time opportunity, Monday–Friday from September 2026

Smile Education is proud to be supporting a welcoming primary school and Alternative Provision setting in Birmingham, seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Primary Teacher to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN specialist to lead a class of pupils with additional needs, delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that support both academic progress and personal development. The role is ideal for teachers with KS1 and/or KS2 experience who are committed to making a meaningful impact.

The Role:
• Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to pupils with a range of special educational needs
• Plan and implement personalised learning programmes in line with EHCPs and IEPs
• Create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour
• Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress and development
• Use differentiated and multi-sensory teaching strategies to meet individual needs
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and parents/carers
• Contribute to reviews, meetings, and multi-agency planning
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times

Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience working with pupils with Autism
• At least 3 months’ SEN teaching experience
• Experience within an Alternative Provision setting (desirable)
• Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing, resilient approach
• Reliable and committed to a full-time role
• Able to provide a minimum of two references covering the past two years (including one related to working with children)
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one through Smile Education
