About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and skilled Post 16 SEN Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive setting in Watford from September 2026. This is a full-time position, offering an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people with special educational needs as they transition into adulthood.

The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering engaging, practical, and differentiated learning experiences that support students’ academic progress, life skills development, independence, and emotional wellbeing. You will play a key role in preparing learners for life beyond education within a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to Post 16 SEN learners.
• Support the development of independence, life skills, communication, and social skills.
• Use a range of strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including EHCP targets.
• Monitor, assess and track learner progress, providing clear feedback and next steps.
• Create a safe, positive and well-structured learning environment.
• Work closely with support staff, therapists, families and external agencies.
• Contribute to personalised learning pathways and transition planning for learners.
• Take part in wider setting activities and enrichment opportunities.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
• Experience working with SEN learners (Post 16 experience desirable).
• Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice.
• Knowledge of supporting learners with complex needs and/or autism is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• A patient, proactive and reflective approach to teaching.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
