Description:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join a dedicated team in an SEN School located in Ipswich, Suffolk. The Ipswich, Suffolk SEN School provides education and support for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) and Autism.

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating lessons that are tailored to meet the individual needs of each pupil. You will work closely with the school's SLT and other professionals to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and to monitor progress.

The successful candidate must have experience teaching learners with SEND and a strong understanding of SEMH and Autism. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to differentiate teaching to support learners with a wide range of needs and abilities. You must also be able to create a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating learning environment that promotes the wellbeing of all pupils.

This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2024 in Ipswich, Suffolk. The salary is competitive and will be based on experience and qualifications.

As an SEN Teacher your responsibilities will include: 

Planning and delivering engaging lessons for pupils with SEMH and/or Autism

Be committed to working towards pupil’s progress both academically and emotionally

Work with parents and carers to ensure the pupil’s academic journey is a positive experience

Working as part of a whole school team

Build a good working relationship with classroom and pupil support staff

We are keen to speak to people about this SEN Teacher role with the following skills and experience:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and or relevant experience

Experience in supporting learners with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and Autism

Experience in supporting pupils in a specialist provision would be ideal but we are also keen to hear from mainstream teachers looking to move to an SEN setting

The successful SEN Teacher must share the school’s ethos of working as a whole school team to ensure all the pupil’s academic and emotional needs are met

Have a nurturing approach to teaching learners with SEND
