Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Start: 1st September 2026 | Full-Time
Salary: £35,602 – £48,479

Supply Desk is seeking an inspirational and dedicated Post-16 SEN Teacher to join a highly regarded specialist school in the Borehamwood area. This rewarding opportunity involves teaching and supporting young people aged 16–19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, preparing them for greater independence, further education, and life beyond school.

What You'll Do

Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons that meet the educational and developmental needs of Post-16 learners with Autism and SEMH needs
Prepare students for adulthood by embedding independence, employability, functional literacy, numeracy, and life skills throughout the curriculum
Create a structured and supportive classroom environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and positive engagement
Use individual education plans and EHCP outcomes to inform teaching, assessment, and target setting
Implement positive behaviour support strategies to encourage self-regulation, resilience, and confidence
Work closely with therapists, support staff, families, and external agencies to provide a holistic approach to student development
Monitor progress, celebrate achievements, and adapt teaching approaches to ensure every learner reaches their potential
Contribute to enrichment activities, community-based learning, and preparation for further education, employment, or supported living

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, or other additional learning needs
A strong understanding of personalised learning and inclusive teaching strategies
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach to supporting young people
A commitment to preparing students for successful, independent futures
