This is a friendly and supportive primary School that works closely with ASC, MLD, SLD and PMLD which is rated Outstanding by OFSTED. This SEN School is located in Barking, London. The school has fantastic facilities across all their sites that are easily accessible for both students and staff. Some of these facilities includes hydrotherapy pools, multisensory soft plays, access to the local farm and individual outdoor space for most classrooms. The school is within walking distance to local stations and has parking at their main site in addition to off street parking, so it is easily accessible for those who drive.

The school has a strong ethos that is implemented in daily life throughout the school. The senior leadership team have created a high working morale amongst staff and want to ensure they provide a safe and comfortable space for everyone.

The SEN Teacher Role

Ideally the successful applicant will have a proven track record working as an SEN Teacher in an SEN environment, but the Headteacher will happily consider anyone who is looking to transition from a mainstream setting.

The successful SEN Teacher will be teaching a mixed KS2 class (7 pupils) with Autism (ASD). Most of the children have communication and sensory needs as well as developmental delays. The class consists of 7 pupils who are all working at P levels, as a result experience of the EYFS curriculum would be advantageous, though not essential.

The successful SEN Teacher candidate will need to be committed, flexible and resilient with the ability to use their own initiative where required. Experience working in an SEN school or with ASD children would be desirable but not essential. The school are specifically looking for teachers who have obtained QTS but it is also worth noting that they are also happy to support ECT's.

Progress with these pupils can be slow when compared to their contemporaries so patience, a caring nature, passion for the job and strong self-belief will be essential.

As this vacancy is an immediate start, it is key for any new member of staff that joins the school ensures a smooth transition takes place, in order to create minimal disruption for the students.
