Educated to relevant degree level and teaching qualification, your teaching career to date will evidence experience of teaching and learning in a primary setting, using these core skills to complement the needs and support of older students, all with very different needs and learning requirements. You will possess a detailed knowledge of teaching and learning for identified students with Special Education Needs, with a minimum of 3 years of previous experience.
The key objective is to ensure that the students can grow as balanced individuals, with excellent life morals, learning core social and communication skills, both intellectually and spiritually. Ensuring that students leave their education journey with good academic qualifications is key, whilst providing them with a positive and enriching educational experience.
The SEN Teacher would be expected to teach the whole curriculum to a small group within their own classroom, except for during PE when the students will be with their mainstream peer group. Naturally, you will receive professional support from specialist teaching assistants supporting with managing and supporting the varying needs of the students. Teaching students from years 7 to 11 offers a broad spectrum of varied learning options for you and the students, having the opportunity to broaden your future career pathway across different age groups.
