Description:

We are seeking an SEN Teacher to join our inclusive and dynamic mainstream primary school in Wandsworth. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the learning and development of our students with additional needs.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will plan, prepare, and deliver tailored lessons and interventions for students with SEN, ensuring all pupils reach their full potential. You will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support within the mainstream classroom. Developing and implementing Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) will be a key part of your duties, as well as monitoring student progress against these targets.

You will provide a stimulating, supportive, and nurturing environment that promotes the well-being and academic progress of all students. Liaising with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to each child's education is essential. You will monitor and assess pupils’ progress, providing regular feedback and adjusting teaching strategies as necessary. Participation in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities will also be required. Your aim will be to foster an inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect and diversity.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience in teaching primary school children. Special educational needs qualifications or extensive experience working with SEN students in a mainstream setting are essential. You should have a strong knowledge of SEN strategies, including the ability to differentiate instruction and use alternative assessment methods. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies are crucial. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs are required, along with experience creating and implementing EHCPs and using a range of intervention programs.

Desirable

Additional qualifications in SEN or a related field are desirable, as is experience with specific SEN conditions such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. Experience using assistive technology to support learning would be beneficial.

Why Join Us?

You will join a supportive and inclusive school environment with ongoing professional development opportunities. Our school offers small class sizes with multiple support staff, ensuring that each child receives the individualized attention and support they need to thrive. Our collaborative and dedicated staff team will welcome you, providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with special educational needs
