About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) with a specialisation in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH), particularly in dealing with Anxiety, to join a vibrant primary school in Newham, London. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children with SEMH needs, ensuring they receive the care and education they deserve.

Application Requirements:

• Relevant experience working with children with SEMH needs, particularly anxiety.

• Understanding of SEMH strategies and interventions, including de-escalation techniques.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.

• Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH, focusing on managing anxiety and promoting positive mental health.

• Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Plans (BIPs) tailored to each student’s needs

• Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

• Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to teachers and parents/carers as required.

• Promote independence and develop students’ social skills through structured interventions and activities.
