Location: Newham, London

Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Term Time

Pay:

Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA): £85-£100 per day

Our client is currently seeking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialization in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to join its dynamic team.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in SEMH, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the holistic development and well-being of students. Working closely with the experienced SENCO and dedicated teaching staff, the role involves providing tailored support to students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This includes implementing personalised strategies to promote emotional regulation, social skills development, and positive behaviour management, thereby fostering a nurturing and conducive learning environment for all.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both within the classroom and in specialised intervention sessions.

Assisting in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), in collaboration with the SENCO and teaching team.

Building positive relationships with students, fostering trust and rapport to support their social and emotional growth.

Implementing evidence-based strategies and interventions to support students’ emotional regulation and well-being.

Collaborating with external agencies, parents, and carers to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to supporting students with SEMH needs.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

Proven experience in supporting students with SEMH needs, preferably within an educational setting.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and external stakeholders.

A compassionate and empathetic approach, coupled with resilience and adaptability in responding to the diverse needs of students.

Relevant qualifications or training in SEN education and SEMH support, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent.
