About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in managing challenging behaviours, specifically screaming, to join our team. This full-time, long-term position requires someone with patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
Application Requirements:
• Experience: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those exhibiting challenging behaviours.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience and Resilience: An exceptional level of patience and resilience to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
• Commitment: A genuine commitment to the welfare and development of students with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Students: Work closely with students who exhibit challenging behaviours, particularly those prone to screaming, helping them to manage and improve their behaviour through positive reinforcement and tailored interventions.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create and implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
• Classroom Assistance: Assist the classroom teacher in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, ensuring all students can participate fully in lessons and activities.
• Create Safe Spaces: Develop safe and calm spaces for students to retreat to when feeling overwhelmed, ensuring they have a supportive environment to regain composure.
