Location: Newham

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Term Time)

Pay Rate:

SEN-TA: £85-£100 per day

Role Overview:

They are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN-TA) with expertise in supporting students with challenging behaviours. In this role, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support, fostering a positive learning environment, and empowering students to overcome obstacles.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one support to students with special educational needs, with a particular focus on those with challenging behaviours. This involves implementing individualised strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging situations, promoting positive behaviour, and fostering self-regulation skills.

Collaborate closely with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualised behaviour plans and interventions. This includes monitoring progress, adjusting strategies as needed, and providing feedback and support to the teaching team.
Support students during classroom activities, ensuring their inclusion and participation. This may involve adapting tasks and materials to meet individual needs, providing additional support and encouragement, and promoting positive peer interactions.

Build positive relationships with students, offering encouragement, praise, and emotional support. Utilise empathy and understanding to connect with students and create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate:

They are seeking a compassionate and resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting students with challenging behaviours. Experience working in a similar role within an educational setting is highly desirable, particularly experience implementing behaviour management strategies and interventions.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and able to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

A proactive and solution-focused approach to supporting students’ diverse needs is essential. The ability to think creatively, adapt to changing situations, and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team is key.
