We are currently recruiting for a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in St Helens. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially in a nurturing learning environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, working closely with teachers and the SENCO to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Assisting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, and other additional needs.
Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through differentiated learning activities.
Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher.
Creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who has:

Experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school, care, or community setting.
A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy classroom environment.
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.Qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential. We also welcome applications from graduates, support workers, youth workers, and those looking to build a career in education.
