Location: Somerset
Salary: £93 – £110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of supportive primary schools throughout Somerset - Taunton, Bridgwater, Highbridge.
This advert is ideal for people who enjoy variety, want to build experience across different school settings, and are passionate about helping children with additional needs access learning in a positive, inclusive environment.
Roles may include day-to-day supply, regular part-time work or longer-term placements, giving you the flexibility to find opportunities that suit your experience, availability and career goals.

Responsibilities

Provide targeted support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs
Assist with 1:1 support, small-group activities and classroom-based learning
Help pupils develop independence, confidence and positive learning habits
Support communication, emotional regulation and social development where required
Follow guidance from teachers, SENDCos and wider school teams
Contribute to a calm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Requirements

Previous SEND, care, youth work or classroom experience is helpful but not essential
A patient, encouraging and resilient approach
Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team
Genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
Understanding of safeguarding or willingness to complete relevant training
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
