SEN Science Teacher

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting a Science Teacher for an independent SEMH School based in Totton, Hampshire, with a September 2026 start.

The school supports KS3 and KS4 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Additional Learning Difficulties. The Totton site is small, well-resourced and highly supportive, providing pupils with a nurturing environment where they can achieve both academically and personally.

Students often require support to build positive relationships and re-engage with education. You will be patient, resilient and committed to helping every young person succeed. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Science lessons that inspire curiosity, develop confidence and support positive learning outcomes.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will be:

Ensuring the teaching area is organised appropriately to provide a safe, tidy and stimulating learning environment.
Planning and delivering engaging Science lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
Teaching Science across KS3 and KS4.
Adapting lessons to meet SEMH needs and encourage positive engagement.
Assessing, monitoring and reporting on pupil progress.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families, carers and colleagues.Contract Details:

Minimum rate of pay: From £168.29 per day
Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm, plus parents eveningsExperience, Training and Qualifications:

QTS or equivalent.
Experience teaching Science at secondary level.
Strong classroom management skills.
SEN / SEMH experience desirable.
Up-to-date Safeguarding training (within the last year).Eligibility:

Right to Work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS certificate (Child Workforce) registered on the update service, or willingness to apply.
