Description:

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist outreach team supporting children and young people who are not currently accessing mainstream education.

This is a highly rewarding role working 1:1 and in small groups, supporting learners in their homes, community settings, and alternative provisions to help them re-engage with education and build confidence.

The Role:

Full-time, long-term opportunity
Outreach-based SEN support (not classroom based)
Working with children with SEMH, ASD, and complex needs
Delivering tailored learning and intervention sessions
Supporting engagement, emotional regulation, and routine building

Working Hours:

Monday – Friday
8:30am – 3:30pm
Term time only

Essential Requirements:

Must hold a full UK driving licence
Must be willing to travel across Plymouth and surrounding areas
Ability to obtain business insurance for travel with learners
Confident working independently in community and home-based settings

Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (SEMH/ASD preferred)
Can build strong, trusting relationships quickly
Is calm, resilient, and adaptable in challenging situations
Is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
Can work flexibly and independently

Supporting learners not currently in mainstream education
Delivering structured outreach sessions in varied environments
Helping reduce barriers to learning and attendance
Working closely with families, schools, and support services
Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement, and progress

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
