Food Technology Teacher in Southampton Area – SEN School

Start September 2024
Pay – £130-£230 per day (depending on experience)
Location - Southampton
Hours - 8am – 4PM

Temporary Full-time with the potential to become permanent

Overview: Supply Desk is currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to join a Secondary SEN school based in the Southampton area. This long-term contract position has the potential to become permanent. We are looking for someone with excellent subject knowledge, effective classroom management, and a drive to support SEN pupils, particularly those with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

About the Role: The role involves teaching Food Technology to students in Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be supporting students with SEMH and ASD in smaller groups of between 3-5 students, with a Teaching Assistant present in each class. This full-time position includes around 18 lessons per week, with designated PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) time.

Offer educational experiences that are more effective for children with learning difficulties than those provided in mainstream schools.
Create stimulating, informative, well-planned, and relevant learning situations and tasks.
Minimize the impact of, or compensate for, any disabilities.
Deliver a curriculum that extends beyond the classroom, preparing pupils for adulthood, including work, leisure, and potential parenthood.
Have a current valid DBS or be willing to obtain one.
Work confidently with Key Stage 3-5 pupils.
