The school supports secondary-aged students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting provides a structured and supportive environment where positive relationships, consistency and individualised support are key to helping students engage with education.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain engaged and supported when their usual teacher is unavailable. You will be provided with lesson plans and resources, with your role focused on maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students to complete their work.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supervising secondary-aged classes across different subjects.
Delivering pre-prepared lesson work and supporting students with their learning.
Managing behaviour calmly and consistently.
Building positive relationships with students.
Supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs.
Working closely with teachers and support staff.
Following school routines, policies and individual support strategies.
Helping to maintain a safe, structured and positive classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for someone who is patient, approachable and confident when working with young people. Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or within an SEN/SEMH setting would be beneficial, but is not essential.

You should have:

Experience working with secondary-aged students.
Confidence managing a classroom independently.
A calm and consistent approach to behaviour.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.
