SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Guildford
Start: September
Rate: £107-£120 per day
Veritas Education is currently seeking experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants for a specialist school in Guildford to begin in September. You will be working with students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and behavioural needs. You will be resilient, supportive, and committed to helping young people succeed in a structured and nurturing environment.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Providing academic and pastoral support to students with SEMH and behavioural needs
Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery, classroom and behaviour management, and pupil development
Promoting positive behaviour and helping manage challenging situations
Supporting students' academic and emotional development in class
Working collaboratively with teaching staff to implement personalised support strategiesThe Ideal Candidate:
Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
Possesses strong behaviour management skills
Has experience using effective mentoring, learning, and engagement strategies
Is enthusiastic, proactive, and patient
Can build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff
