Pay: £88 - £100 per day
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the resilience, patience and enthusiasm to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential?
Supply Desk are currently working with a specialist school in Salisbury that is looking to appoint a number of dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants from September 2026. These positions are being offered on long-term supply contracts, with the potential to become permanent roles for the right candidates.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a career in education, psychology, social work or youth work, as well as experienced Teaching Assistants looking to develop their SEN and SEMH experience within a supportive school environment.
The Role
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a one-to-one and small-group basis
Building positive and trusting relationships with students
Assisting pupils to engage with learning and achieve their individual targets
Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Helping to create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals
Promoting independence, confidence and resilience
Contributing to behaviour monitoring and pupil progress reviews
Minimum Requirements
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
A patient, calm and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals is desirable
A willingness to learn and undertake relevant training
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
