SEMH Teaching Assistant - Nottingham
Are you experienced in supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs?
Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking patient and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in Nottingham and the surrounding areas.
Roles may involve supporting pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety, attachment difficulties, challenging behaviour, low confidence or barriers to engaging successfully with learning.
We are interested in hearing from candidates with backgrounds in Teaching Assistant work, behaviour support, pastoral support, mentoring, ELSA or similar roles working with vulnerable children.
Responsibilities
Providing individual and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
Building positive and consistent relationships with vulnerable pupils
Supporting positive behaviour and engagement with learning
Using appropriate de-escalation and behaviour-support strategies
Delivering mentoring, wellbeing or social-skills interventions
Supporting pupils with confidence, resilience and independence
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams and families
Supporting successful reintegration into classroom learning where required
Requirements
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
Experience within education, pastoral support, behaviour mentoring, ELSA or youth work is highly desirable
A calm, patient and resilient approach
Strong behaviour-management and relationship-building skills
An understanding of safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable children
Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances where applicable and suitable professional references
Comprehensive employment history covering the previous 10 years where possible
