We're working with mainstream, SEN and alternative provision settings across Hartlepool who are looking for calm, compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

If you're patient, resilient, and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, you'll fit right in.

What's the role?

You'll be supporting students who may struggle with regulating emotions, building positive relationships, managing behaviour, or engaging in learning due to SEMH needs and other additional learning requirements.

Your role will be to provide consistency, encouragement, and a safe environment where pupils can build confidence and succeed.

No two days are the same, but that's part of the magic.

You might be:

Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, Autism, PMLD and other additional needs
Building positive, trusting relationships with students who may have experienced challenges in education
Working 1:1 or with small groups to provide tailored support
Helping students develop emotional regulation, social skills and confidence
Supporting behaviour in a positive, restorative way
Creating a calm, structured environment where students feel safe and ready to learn
Encouraging engagement, attendance and participation in lessons
Whether it's a specialist SEMH school, PRU, SEN setting or mainstream provision, your support can have a lasting impact on a young person's future.

What you'll need

Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs
Confidence supporting students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD and challenging behaviours
A calm, patient and resilient approach to managing behaviours and building relationships
Understanding of trauma-informed or restorative approaches is desirable
SEN qualification or a care-based qualification
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
References ready for clearance

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
