Make a difference every day as an SEMH Teaching Assistant
We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in South Liverpool.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to thrive.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs, providing consistent support both in and outside of the classroom. You will build positive relationships with pupils, help them manage challenges and emotions, and support them to engage successfully with their education.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with pupils.
Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions and manage challenging situations.
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual support strategies.
Supporting pupils both academically and socially.
Helping to create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.
Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to appropriate records and reviews.
Promoting pupils' confidence, independence, resilience and self-esteem.
Working positively with parents, carers and external professionals where appropriate.
About You

Flexible, proactive and willing to adapt their approach to meet individual needs.Previous experience of working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs would be highly desirable. Experience within a school or alternative provision setting would also be advantageous.
Relevant qualifications such as Teaching Assistant, Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent experience are welcomed, although we are particularly interested in finding the right person with the attitude and commitment to make a genuine difference.
