SEMH Support Worker - Taunton (Term Time Only)

Location: Taunton, Somerset
Start Date: 2nd November 2026 (Term 2)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Support Worker to join a specialist education setting in the Taunton area from 2nd November 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and making a genuine difference in their educational journey.

Working closely with students who may display challenging behaviours or require additional emotional support, you will play a key role in helping them engage positively with learning, develop coping strategies, and achieve their individual goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
Building positive and professional relationships with pupils.
Promoting emotional regulation, resilience and self-esteem.
Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams.
Encouraging attendance, engagement and participation in lessons.

The Ideal Candidate:

Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Calm, patient and resilient approach in challenging situations.
Background in education, youth work, support work, residential care, sports coaching, mental health support or similar is desirable.
Passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
