SEMH Support Assistant

Location: Aylesbury
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full Time, Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £90–£115 per day

Providing emotional support is vital to enhancing learning outcomes.
Consistency fosters trust and positive relationships.

Role Overview

As a SEMH Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have social, emotional, and mental health needs, delivering structured and targeted support to help them thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver tailored SEMH support to individual pupils
Work one-to-one with pupils to support emotional regulation
Implement effective support strategies and interventions
Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils
Collaborate with teaching staff to support behaviour management plans

Classroom Environment

Maintain a calm and consistent atmosphere
Focus on relationship-building
Provide structured and clear support
Set and uphold clear expectations

Skills and Experience

Experience working with SEMH or behavioural needs
Resilience, patience, and empathy
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build trust and rapport with young people

Indicators of Success

Pupils demonstrate improved emotional regulation
Positive changes in behaviour
Increased pupil engagement in learning
Enhanced confidence and self-esteem
Previous experience in SEMH or similar roles is highly desirable.
