SEMH Support Practitioner / Specialist – Gloucester

Location: Gloucester
Role Type: Full-time / Part-time opportunities available

Are you a passionate and experienced educator looking to make a real difference in young people’s lives?

We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Support Specialist to work across schools in the Gloucester area, supporting students both on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings.

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs in mainstream and specialist settings. You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, improve behaviour, and engage positively with learning.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing 1:1 tailored support for students with SEMH needs
Delivering small group interventions focused on emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement
Supporting students with complex needs including ASC, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges
Building strong, positive relationships with pupils to promote trust and progress
Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff to implement effective strategies
Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

About You

We are looking for an individual who brings experience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.

The ideal candidate will have:

Significant experience within education (mainstream, SEN, PRU or alternative provision)
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
A proven track record of building positive relationships that improve student outcomes and self-esteem
Experience supporting students with SEMH and complex needs
A flexible and adaptable approach to working across different school environments
A positive attitude, great sense of humour, and commitment to student success
A teaching background or relevant qualification (such as a PGCE or equivalent) would be highly beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
