Start Date: September 2026

Are you passionate about mentoring young people and breaking down barriers to learning?

We are seeking resilient, empathetic, and highly motivated Pastoral Support Workers and Behaviour Mentors to join the support teams within vibrant secondary schools across Preston and Blackpool for the upcoming academic year.

If you are a graduate looking for classroom experience, a sports coach, an ex-military/emergency services professional, a youth worker, or someone with a strong background in mental health or care, your skills are in high demand.

In this role, you won't be standing at the front of a classroom teaching curriculum. Instead, you will be on the frontline of student well-being-working 1-on-1 and in small groups with students who need extra guidance, emotional regulation, and a positive role model to help them thrive in school.

The Opportunity: Tailored to Your Commute

We work with extensive networks of secondary academies across Lancashire. Whether you live in the heart of Preston, on the Fylde Coast, or anywhere along the M55 corridor, we match you with a school that makes sense for your daily commute.

Key Responsibilities:

Mentoring & Guidance: Work closely with students displaying challenging behaviour, low self-esteem, or anxiety, helping them re-engage with their education.

Pastoral Intervention: Run targeted intervention sessions focused on emotional literacy, anger management, attendance, and conflict resolution.

De-escalation: Support the school's internal inclusion or pastoral hub, managing student dysregulation using a calm, restorative approach.

Collaboration: Partner with Heads of Year, Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), and parents to track pupil progress and implement positive behaviour plans.

What We Are Looking For:

The Right Mindset: An emotionally resilient, patient, and non-judgmental individual who understands that "behaviour is communication."

Transferable Experience: Prior experience working with children, young adults, or vulnerable individuals (e.g., Youth Work, Sports Coaching, Psychology graduates, Care/Social Work, or Teaching Assistant roles).

Communication: Exceptional listening skills and the ability to build quick, genuine rapport with teenagers from diverse backgrounds.

Reliability: A commitment to offering a stable, consistent presence in a young person's daily school routine.

Why Join Us?

With over 25 years of education recruitment experience in Lancashire, we treat our support staff as vital professionals. We offer:

Strictly PAYE Pay: Absolute financial transparency. What we agree on is what you take home. No hidden umbrella company fees, no mandatory payroll deductions, and no surprises.

Continuous Professional Development: Access to training in safeguarding, de-escalation, and positive behaviour strategies.

A Foot in the Door: These long-term roles are the ultimate springboard. Many of our pastoral workers are regularly snapped up by their placement schools for permanent, internal trust contracts.
