GSL Education are seeking a dynamic and experienced educator to join an outstanding Secondary School’s team as Second in English. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Department in leading the English department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students..

Second in English Responsibilities:

Assist the Head of Department in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the English curriculum.
Model exemplary teaching practices and provide guidance and support to colleagues in the department.
Lead by example in delivering engaging and effective English lessons that inspire students and promote academic excellence
Liaise with parents, staff, and students, and maintain a good relationship with all parties.
Manage high levels of student attainment through strong leadership and supervision.
Coordinate and deliver professional development opportunities for English department staff, focusing on pedagogy, curriculum updates, and best practices.
Second in English Requirements:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Degree in English.
Significant experience teaching English at the secondary level, with a proven track record of successful outcomes.
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current trends and research in English education.

Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education.
