School: Secondary Academy, Southwark, Southeast London (inner London)

Annual Salary: MPS/UPS (inner London) (£36,811-£57,018) + TLR 2A (£3,213)

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Start date: September 2024

Aston Education is working with an 11-18 secondary school in Southwark, Southeast London (inner London), looking for a permanent Second in charge of Music to start in September 2024.

Music is at the heart of the academy and has always been an important part of school life. The quality of the music that is performed and composed is outstanding.

The Music department has four members of staff and a valued team of peripatetic teachers.

Music is taught at KS3, and it is a popular option at GCSE. You’ll support building this up to include A level. A wide range of extra-curricular clubs, orchestras, choirs and ensembles run weekly.

As a Second in charge of Music, you’ll further build upon a well-established programme, ensuring the continued development of the elite programmes, participatory extra-curricular and curriculum music, and performance.

The Second in charge of Music will be a highly motivated individual who has QTS/QTLS and excellent knowledge and experience teaching the Music curriculum. They will be able to communicate a clear vision for the future and inspire colleagues and pupils. They will be a skilled and diverse musician.

The school has state-of-the-art facilities and excellent transport links in zone 1.
