Job title - 2nd chef
Location - school
Hours - 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday during school term time - no evening or weekend work. There is the possibility of additional work during school holiday periods.

Our client is looking for a talented second chef to join the team. They are a small team catering for 300 meals a day in an oxford school. The menu is mainly a fresh food menu and is on a 3-week rotation.
As a second chef your main duty will be to deputise for the Head Chef in their absence, and to be responsible for the preparation of meals in accordance with the School standards and to maintain the kitchen, its associated areas and equipment in a clean and hygienic condition.
Duties include
* Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
* Follow recipes and presentation specifications
* Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
* Maintain a clean working station whilst adhering to health & safety standards
* Assist with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment
* Restock items as needed throughout the shift
* Adhere to all food hygiene & safety standards
* Assist the School Manager and Head Chef on menu selection and design
* Assist the Head Chef with stock ordering and budgetary considerations
* Recording food temperatures
* Adhere to all H&S policies and working practice
* Compliance to all school policies and procedures
* Safeguarding
* Assist with marketing e.g. social media, menu's etc

To be successful you must have the following skills and attributes
have some previous experience of working in a kitchen and ideally will have completed NVQ level 2/3
You must have a strong eye for food presentation and be able to deliver high quality meals
Excellent teamwork skills are required along with a can do professional approach to work.
adopt a flexible approach to working hours and duties is necessary as the school would also like to offer a holiday playscheme in non-term times. There is flexibility to work extra days during these times for an additional payment.

Essential Experience:
* Cooking: Essential must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
* Good standard of written and spoken English
* Chef De Partie Level 2/3 or similar

Desirable Experience:
* Willingness to undertake additional training
* Willingness to undertake the lead role in holiday periods and run the kitchen (salary uplift will follow)
