We’re recruiting for our client, a national centre for excellence in Biomarker research and a leader in the field of cancer biomarker sciences. Their centre is renowned for its cutting-edge research and collaborative environment, focusing on the development and utilisation of preclinical cancer model systems, especially patient-derived models, to advance cancer treatment and therapies.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Scientific Officer to support the Preclinical Pharmacology team. This role involves conducting vital in vivo research using lung cancer mouse models, generating and maintaining these models, and potentially participating in therapeutic response testing. Your work will directly contribute to our understanding and treatment of cancer, supporting both academic and industrial collaborations.

Please note, this is role is a on a fixed term contract until March 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

* Implement and manage in vivo studies, including cell implantation, drug administration, and tumour monitoring.

* Process patient samples for in vivo use and perform ex vivo analysis of tumour samples and biomarkers.

* Maintain accurate records using our automated data collection software.

* Engage in in vitro experiments as required, gaining independence as your expertise grows.

* Provide specialist advice and contribute to team and group meetings, enhancing the overall success of our projects.

About You:

* You hold a BSc in a biology-related discipline or have equivalent relevant experience.

* You possess a Home Office Personal Licence (PIL A and B) or equivalent, with experience in rodent in vivo models, preferably mice.

* Your background may include cancer research, pharmacology, and familiarity with good laboratory practices.

* You are skilled in planning experiments, problem-solving, and possess strong communication abilities.
