* PERMANENT ROLE - 36.25 hours per week (8.00am - 4.45pm)
* FINISH 3.15pm ON FRIDAYS

Our client is a respected leader in their field and are now looking for a Scientific Glass Blower to join the team. Our client enjoys a worldwide reputation of quality, service and reliability in the manufacture and supply of spectrophotometers and optical components and are looking for a skilled Scientific Glass Blower to assist in the manufacture of a wide variety of optical sampling components and accessories and scientific glassware, where precise dimensions are required and products must be distortion free.
Role Overiew
* You will be capable of performing free hand bench work and adaptable to working from detailed technical drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
* The role involves a variety of glass forming work, using glass lathes and/or similar machines and an element of freehand glass blowing.
* This is not a studio/artistic position, but rather a full-time scientific glassblowing production role in a fast-paced environment where exact tolerances are critical.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Hand finish to tight quality control specifications
* Apply knowledge and expertise to assess and solve problems
* Maintain a safe work environment following all protocol and safety standards
* Maintain all tools and equipment
* Train and support the growth of less skilled team members, as appropriate
Skills and Experience
* 5+ years experience, ideally in a production environment
* Demonstrable experience working with quartz and pyrex materials
* Experience in both bench work and lathe work
* Able to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing instructions
* Ability to work without supervision or teamwork
* Be aware of systems and processes and embrace a LEAN mindset looking for opportunities to make production more efficient is ideal but not essential
* Experience training and sharing knowledge with other glass workers is ideal but not essential
