Part-Time School Receptionist / Administrator
Kennington School
£20,704.15 per annum
Monday to Friday, 8.00am-1.00pm
25 hours per week | 52 weeks per year
Anticipated start date: December 2026
Kennington School is looking for a warm, professional and highly organised Part-Time School Receptionist / Administrator to join its friendly and supportive team.
As the first point of contact for parents, pupils, visitors, contractors and external organisations, you will provide a calm, welcoming and efficient reception service. This is a busy and varied position combining front-of-house responsibilities with general school administration.
You will need to communicate confidently with a wide range of people, manage several priorities simultaneously and remain calm and professional throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities
* Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls and taking accurate messages
* Welcoming visitors and managing the visitor signing-in system
* Monitoring the school gate entry system and CCTV
* Responding to enquiries from parents, local authorities and other stakeholders
* Managing shared email inboxes and forwarding or actioning messages
* Maintaining school calendars, room bookings and visitor records
* Recording pupil absences, late arrivals and early departures
* Maintaining accurate pupil, staff, transport and contact lists
* Receiving deliveries and arranging their distribution
* Supporting school transport arrangements and liaising with parents and providers
* Preparing letters, emails, weekly communications and permission forms
* Uploading correspondence and documentation to iSAMS
* Processing approved invoices and reconciling monthly credit card statements
* Ordering uniforms, stationery and general school supplies
* Maintaining training records and providing administrative support to HR
* Assisting with fire evacuation procedures and safeguarding administration
* Providing cover for the other School Receptionist during holidays or absence
About you
You will have:
* Strong general administration and organisational skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience using Microsoft Office, including Outlook
* The ability to prioritise tasks and manage interruptions effectively
* A professional, confident and well-presented manner
* Clear and concise communication skills
* A warm, cheerful and helpful approach
* The ability to remain calm under pressure and think quickly
* High standards of accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail
Previous experience within a school, education or busy reception environment would be beneficial.
The role may require additional cover for the other Receptionist’s planned holidays or unexpected absence. A uniform will be provided.
