Description:
Our client, based in Gerrards Cross, is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to maintain the school facilities and perform regular cleaning tasks to ensure the school building and outside areas are well presented, clean and tidy.
The school consists of the main school building classrooms and offices, various blocks, kitchens, sports centre and various out-buildings and storage facilities etc.
There are 6 maintenance staff in the team and all members are required to work either alone or in co-operation with each other. All work is completed to the highest standards as efficiently and with as little disruption to the school day as possible.
Duties of the Role:
* Carrying out tasks and duties delegated by the Maintenance Manager
* Advising the Maintenance Manager of any issues with tasks, equipment or working methods
* Removal of waste and recyclable materials, ensuring they are correctly disposed of
* Performing regular cleaning duties, including sweeping (both manual and with an industrial sweeper), dusting, mopping and vacuuming
* Assisting with snow/ice clearing as necessary
* Responding promptly to requests for emergency clean-ups
* Assisting with movement, setting up and taking down of furniture or equipment around the school for events or changing needs
* Collaborating with contractors as necessary
* Advising the Maintenance Manager of all departmental equipment and machinery that needs repair or replacement
* Ensuring equipment is clean and safely stored in the correct place at the end of each day
* Ensuring all H&S standards are met in area of responsibility, including meeting all PPE requirements
* Occasionally assisting with supervision of car park at major school events
* Occasionally assisting with housekeeping staff transport – local bus run
* Safeguarding – to implement and adhere to best practice in safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and young people
Special Requirements:
* Practical and adaptable, with a logical approach to tasks and with common sense
* Dedicated, reliable, with a positive attitude to work, punctual and flexible in approach
* Physically fit to meet the demands and nature of manual work, able to lift heavy objects and with good hand/eye coordination
* Ability to work to verbal instruction and requirements, with care, accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, willing to help others whenever necessary
* Personable, good manners and ability to get along with a wide variety of colleagues
* Full UK driving license
